3 Top reasons why Hanna wanted to become an Advisor

We asked Hanna about the main reasons she wanted to start advisory work. Here is her top 3:

🔵 Sharing my Knowledge as an Advisor

I feel that I’ve gained a lot of valuable experience in the past 10+ years working in the HR field and it would be a shame not to pass those learnings forward.

🔵 Making HR Accessible to Every Company

I understand that many small and growing businesses may not require a dedicated in-house Human Resources professional at this stage, but that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t benefit from occasional support in this area. By offering advisory services, we can make expertise in people operations accessible to all organizations, regardless of their budget.

🔵 Better companies one by one

I am driven by the desire to make a positive impact on the work lives of individuals and organizations. I believe that by sharing my knowledge and expertise, I can support early-stage companies in building a strong foundation for growth and development. By providing guidance and best practices during this critical phase, we can pave the way for long-term success rather than trying to make changes later on when it may be more challenging. Through this type of thought leadership and advisory work, I aim to make a meaningful difference, one company at a time.

Are you ready to become an advisor too?

Hanna Kontinen wants to encourage professionals to think of becoming an advisor. She believes that anyone with a strong background and an interest in helping others can be an advisor. “I think anyone with a relevant background and an interest in helping others can be an advisor! It’s always beneficial to have as many options as possible, ranging from juniors to seniors and diverse backgrounds. More diversity means more valuable approaches.”

Hanna admits that she had a limited idea of what an advisor should be like before she started as one. She thought that advisors should have certain characteristics and qualifications, such as experience of working on boards and at least a seniority level on their title. But now she has realised that there is not just one right way to be an advisor or one right type of advisor.

Hanna advises professionals who are considering becoming an advisor to be brave and not to be afraid of not knowing everything. “You don’t need to know everything about everything. Not even about your own field. But it’s important to be aware of your own expertise and strengths. I only spare about topics I manage well.
